Lee is a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA), and is a Featured Author on their website.The SFWA is an organization of professional writers of science fiction, fantasy, and related genres. Past and present members include Isaac Asimov, Anne McCaffrey, Ray Bradbury, and Andre Norton. It was founded in 1965 by Damon Knight.

Lee is also a member of the Atlanta Writers Club, which is the largest writers group in Georgia. The AWC was started in 1914 and has many published authors.

NECRONOMICON, Florida's largest Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention, was held October 23-25, 2009 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Lee hosted one panel and was on another panel at the convention.
